The Vellore Institute of Technology - VIT, widely known as VIT University is a Deemed to be University located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. VIT has been ranked as the 9th best university of India in the university category, 12th in engineering category and 10th in research category according to NIRF Rankings 2022. 

There are 23 IITs and 31 NITs in India for technical higher education. IITs and NITs are government funded university. According to Indian government latest survey and ranking, VIT is placed in 12th position among all IITs, NITs, IISc and technical higher education institutioins in India. Which significantly indicates quality and outcome of higher education at VIT.

Admission at VIT is very much competitive. For undergraduate engineering admission VIT conduct VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE).
